CBS was originally slated for a 2020 series, but due to COVID, it was canceled just prior to filming the first episode. It has now been picked up by Netflix for a 10-episode first season based on Mickey Haller’s second book, The Brass Verdict. Personalized California license plates are allowed a maximum of seven letters/numbers, but all Mickey license plates have a minimum of eight.

A drug rehab lawyer with two ex-wives, a daughter and a passion for cars is embroiled in a high-profile case after the death of a friend. All this along with practice and more secondary questions than he can handle. This intriguing premise makes for a packed backdrop for legal drama.

It’s engaging, fun and enjoyable from start to finish – highly recommended

The show takes advantage of that, adds a strong cast, well-constructed and delivered dialogue, and an interesting plot, and it’s well-paced. Some of the cinematic choices are awkward, particularly the shifting focus shots and orange images, though overall it works as it should. Izzy, Mickey Mouse’s leader, is often used as a plot device, but despite being obvious, it feels natural and fits the story.
